Glamorizing Teen Pregnancy – TSLOAT
The most overused word in The Secret Life of the American Teenager is the word ‘sex’ which is spoken of in almost every line. So with such a lame premise people seemed a bit apprehensive about watching the show on a regular basis. This show in a way is glamorizing teen pregnancy, which is evident in the casual treatment of pregnancy by Amy (a character on the show). It shows that teenage pregnancy is an acceptable situation. Teenage pregnancy is a reality and something that is detrimental to the social life of the girl, not to mention the emotional trauma she has to go through.

In the show Amy’s teen pregnancy has been glamorized by having marching bands play their instruments when she returns to school after finding out she’s pregnant .This show is projecting unrealistic image by showing scenes like the entire school showing up at Amy’s door offering her help for when the baby is born or Ben wanting to marry her, and help her take care of the baby even though he is not the father of the child.
While all these events might happen in a utopian society the real world scenario is very gloomy.
But perhaps the worst thing was when Tyra Banks revealed on her show Americas Next Top Model, Cycle 12 that many girls actually would like to get pregnant, as if it is a trend.
